on October 6, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scripture Passage:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>John 5:1-18 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5&nbsp;<\/strong>After this there was a&nbsp;feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>Now there is in Jerusalem by&nbsp;the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic&nbsp;called Bethesda,&nbsp;which has five roofed colonnades.&nbsp;<sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>In these lay a multitude of invalids\u2014blind, lame, and&nbsp;paralyzed.&nbsp;<sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.&nbsp;<sup>6&nbsp;<\/sup>When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him,&nbsp;\u201cDo you want to be healed?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>The sick man answered him, \u201cSir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus said to him,&nbsp;\u201cGet up, take up your bed, and walk.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>9&nbsp;<\/sup>And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that day was the Sabbath.&nbsp;<sup>10&nbsp;<\/sup>So the Jews&nbsp;said to the man who had been healed, \u201cIt is the Sabbath, and&nbsp;it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>11&nbsp;<\/sup>But he answered them, \u201cThe man who healed me, that man said to me,&nbsp;\u2018Take up your bed, and walk.\u2019\u201d&nbsp;<sup>12&nbsp;<\/sup>They asked him, \u201cWho is the man who said to you, \u2018Take up your bed and walk\u2019?\u201d&nbsp;<sup>13&nbsp;<\/sup>Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for&nbsp;Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place.&nbsp;<sup>14&nbsp;<\/sup>Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him,&nbsp;\u201cSee, you are well!&nbsp;Sin no more,&nbsp;that nothing worse may happen to you.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>15&nbsp;<\/sup>The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.&nbsp;<sup>16&nbsp;<\/sup>And this was why the Jews&nbsp;were persecuting Jesus,&nbsp;because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.&nbsp;<sup>17&nbsp;<\/sup>But Jesus answered them,&nbsp;\u201cMy Father is working until now, and I am working.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>18&nbsp;<\/sup>This was why the Jews&nbsp;were seeking all the more to kill him,&nbsp;because not only was he&nbsp;breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling
