Tim Grieves preached this sermon on May 31th, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Scripture Passage:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>John 12:20-36 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>20&nbsp;<\/sup>Now there were some Greeks&nbsp;among those who went up to worship at the festival.&nbsp;<sup>21&nbsp;<\/sup>They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida&nbsp;in Galilee, with a request. \u201cSir,\u201d they said, \u201cwe would like to see Jesus.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>22&nbsp;<\/sup>Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>23&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus replied,&nbsp;\u201cThe hour&nbsp;has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.&nbsp;<sup>24&nbsp;<\/sup>Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies,&nbsp;it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.&nbsp;<sup>25&nbsp;<\/sup>Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it&nbsp;for eternal life.&nbsp;<sup>26&nbsp;<\/sup>Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be.&nbsp;My Father will honor the one who serves me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>27&nbsp;<\/sup>\u201cNow my soul is troubled,&nbsp;and what shall I say? \u2018Father,&nbsp;save me from this hour\u2019?&nbsp;No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.&nbsp;<sup>28&nbsp;<\/sup>Father, glorify your name!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then a voice came from heaven,&nbsp;\u201cI have glorified it, and will glorify it again.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>29&nbsp;<\/sup>The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>30&nbsp;<\/sup>Jesus said,&nbsp;\u201cThis voice was for your benefit,&nbsp;not mine.&nbsp;<sup>31&nbsp;<\/sup>Now is the time for judgment on this world;&nbsp;now the prince of this world&nbsp;will be driven out.&nbsp;<sup>32&nbsp;<\/sup>And I, when I am lifted up&nbsp;from the earth,&nbsp;will draw all people to myself.\u201d&nbsp;<sup>33&nbsp;<\/sup>He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>34&nbsp;<\/sup>The crowd spoke up, \u201cWe have heard from the Law&nbsp;that the Messiah will remain forever,&nbsp;so how can you say,&nbsp;\u2018The Son of Man&nbsp;must be lifted up\u2019?&nbsp;Who is this \u2018Son of Man\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><sup>35&nbsp;<\/sup>Then Jesus told them,&nbsp;\u201cYou are going to have the light&nbsp;just a little while longer.
